Frequently Asked Questions

β—†

Have a question? We have answers.

Is EuroTaxCalc completely free?

+

Yes β€” EuroTaxCalc is 100% free to use, with no exceptions. There is no signup, no account, no premium tier, no trial period, and no paywall of any kind. Every calculator for every country is available to everyone instantly. We are able to offer this for free because the site is supported by advertising. The calculators, the tax guides, and all content will always remain free.

How accurate are the tax calculations?

+

Every calculator on EuroTaxCalc is built directly from official government tax authority data β€” HMRC for the UK, Π”ΠŸΠ‘ for Ukraine, GΔ°B for Turkey, and so on for all 15 countries. We verify every rate, threshold, and calculation formula against primary sources before publishing. That said, all results are estimates. They are based on standard scenarios and the inputs you provide. Individual circumstances β€” special exemptions, employer arrangements, tax treaty positions, or regional taxes β€” may affect your actual tax liability. Always verify important figures with your country's official tax authority or a qualified accountant before making financial decisions.

Are the calculators available in local languages?

+

Yes. Every country page on EuroTaxCalc is written entirely in that country's native language. The Belgium and France calculators are in French, Germany in German, Italy in Italian, Netherlands in Dutch, Poland in Polish, Portugal in Portuguese, Czechia in Czech, Turkey in Turkish, Ukraine in Ukrainian, and the UK in English. We made this decision deliberately β€” tax terminology is complex enough without having to translate it yourself. A German worker should be able to read about Steuerklassen in German, and a Ukrainian freelancer should see ЀОП calculations in Ukrainian.

How often are the tax rates updated?

+

We review and update every calculator at the start of each country's tax year β€” which for most European countries means January or April. When governments announce mid-year rate changes (as happened with Ukraine's military levy in October 2024 and Turkey's income tax brackets in 2024), we update the affected calculators as quickly as possible. The last verified update date is shown on each country's calculator page. If you notice a rate that appears outdated, please let us know via our Contact page and we will prioritise the update.

Which European countries are currently supported?

+

EuroTaxCalc currently covers Belgium, Czechia, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom β€” 15 countries in total. Each country has its own dedicated calculator page with tools for salary/take-home pay, self-employment or freelancer tax, and VAT. Some countries have additional calculators β€” for example, Germany includes a Steuerklassen comparison tool, France covers the Auto-Entrepreneur regime, and Italy includes the Regime Forfettario. We plan to expand coverage to additional European countries over time.
